Sally Woodford

Sally makes ceramic sculpture.

There is a close affiliation between her collection of beach stones and her art. Using coil and slab hand building techniques each piece evolves slowly, enabling it to develop its own character, to became individual while retaining evidence of the maker, and reflecting the influences from both ancient and contemporary sources in art and culture.

The scale of her work ranges from hand held pieces to large standing and wall mounted forms. Experimenting with a variety of clays and using a number of firing methods in both gas and electric kilns, the work provides endless challenges.

Sally sees the projects presented through her membership of QuayCrafts as an opportunity to try out new technics to produce more challenging and adventurous artwork.
